Céad Míle Fáilte Roundwood

Welcome to Roundwood, Ireland.

Roundwood, historically known as Tóchar  (Irish, meaning “The Causeway”), is a haven for fans of outdoor pursuits, with extensive scenic walks and trails across a lush rural and upland setting. Enjoy the fresh air and beautiful landscapes nestled beside the Vartry Reservoirs on the foothills of the Wicklow mountains. At 238m above sea level, Roundwood is one of the highest villages in Ireland. The village has a wide range of shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes, and accommodation.

The website highlights some of the activities and initiatives that are ongoing in the growing village for tourists and locals alike. It’s also a great start to find out about our current biodiversity, safety and cultural efforts. For weekly updates, please visit the news & events page.

Our Village Show takes place annually over the Bank Holiday Weekend in August. It’s an event not to be missed and open to all to attend and join in the fun.

Roundwood is twinned with Spèzet, a village in the northwest of Brittany, France.

This community website and Facebook page are managed by the Roundwood and District Community Council. The objectives of our Community Council are to involve all the people in the promotion of the social, educational, cultural and economic welfare of the whole community, and to represent the community in dealings with local government, statutory bodies and other agencies in the promotion of the common good. The group meet on the second Monday of every month (bar August) in Roundwood Parish Hall at 8:00 pm from November to Easter, and 8:30 pm from April to October.
